Bullock and Hoots receive Pea Ridge Community Center Scholarship

Charlyn Zoe Bullock and Mattison T. Hoots have been named recipients of the 2014 Pea Ridge Community Center Scholarships.
Charlyn Bullock is the daughter of Paul and Marilyn Poston and lives on Pea Ridge Road.  Following graduation from Polk County High School, she plans to attend Western Carolina University and her dream is to become a teacher. Bullock has worked at McDonalds and Food Lion and has three brothers. She has volunteered at the local library and served as youth leader at Wheat Creek Baptist and a church in Shelby, N.C.  She was senior class vice president, in the Interact Club and National Honors Society and was Homecoming Queen.
Mattison Hoots, son of Josh and Destiny Hoots, lives on Big Level Road in the Pea Ridge Community.  Mattison Hoots will graduate from Polk County High School in June and plans to attend Isothermal Community College and later transfer to Western Carolina University.  His goal is to work toward a career as a State Trooper. He has been active in the youth group at Pea Ridge Baptist Church and participated in the FFA and varsity football. He also has three brothers. He has worked at Sidestreet Pizza, Ingles, Hoots Masonry and Jones Lawn Service.
The Pea Ridge Community Club is pleased to present a $500 academic scholarship each year to a graduating senior from the Pea Ridge community.
