The book is closed on another fun and successful Friendship Circle event, “Hats Off for Hospice,” a fundraising luncheon benefitting Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum.
Held at the elegant Piedmont Club in Spartanburg, 160 women came together with “hats” as the theme – wearing them, donating them for resale, purchasing them to raise funds.  After a mimosa reception on the patio, ladies enjoyed a wonderful style show with fashions by Sissy Boutique and Gifts in Landrum, and modeled by women from Glassy Mountain, Tryon and Landrum and areas in between.
The Friendship Circle, a women’s committee to benefit Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, produces three events every year.  The spring luncheon has been held at the Cliffs of Glassy, Spiegel Farm and for the last three years at The Piedmont Club.  This particular affair has cumulatively, over the last five years, raised over $50,000.  Women come from towns and communities in Spartanburg, Greenville, and Polk Counties to support the work and become members of the Friendship Circle.
Friendship Circle members also volunteer at the Hospice House, serving meals to patients and doing whatever else is necessary to assist the work of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills (HOCF).  Many members also put in time at the Thrift Barn, sorting, pricing, cleaning, and marking items for resale.  The proceeds of the Thrift Barn also support the care given to individuals and their families at the Hospice House.
Millard & Company of Tryon, Profinish Home Improvements of Campobello, J M Smith Corporation of Spartanburg, and Dale and Patty Holl of Bright’s Creek sponsored this affair. All photographs were compliments of Sharon Brisken, Tim Lambka, and Ed Overstreet of the Spartanburg Photography Guild.
If you would like information about joining the Friendship Circle, contact Diane Nelson in the HOCF office at 828.894.7000.
