On Wednesday, May 14 at approximately 2:48 p.m., Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies were responding to a call in the area of Hwy. 9 and John Shehan Rd. When two officers were passed by the suspect vehicle, the first officer pulled to the side of the road to execute a u-turn to follow the vehicle. The second Polk officer unit collided with the first unit. Both officers suffered non-life threatening injuries.
“I’m glad no one was hurt in this accident,” said Polk County Sheriff Donald Hill. “The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and we will work internally to ensure future incidents such as these are avoided. I’d like to thank the responding emergency service agencies for their assistance as well.”
