To the Editor
For a community of our diminutive size, the Carolina Foothills is so very privileged to have an organization like the Tryon Fine Arts Center to make the fine arts locally available and support arts education in our youth population.
TFAC programs such as the Evening of Excellence, a professionally juried high school art competition and exhibit, benefit the whole community by encouraging local talent, providing essential funding for grants to the local schools and teaching programs that cultivate our next generation of talent, and bringing the joy and inspiration of the arts to each of us who live here.
What better way to encourage an aspiring artist to a lifetime of achievement than the sheer excitement of having their work formally exhibited and sold at a TFAC auction?
Community participation and support of TFAC events, like Evening of Excellence next Saturday, May 17 at 5:30 p.m., make fine arts in the Foothills a continuing reality and speaks volumes about the unique character of our special community. Great supporters like auctioneer Bill Jones and caterer Rebecca Davis will make it a most eventful evening.
I hope we see the fantastic turnout these student artists deserve. For such a low-cost, tax deductible event where else could you come away with a piece of Tryon’s artistic future!
