After spring break, most students in Polk County Schools start focusing on the end of the year and the tests that all students have to take.
In an effort to make this time of year a little less stressful, students and staff at Polk County Middle School (PCMS) participated in a kick-off for a theme of “Rock the Test” for the end of the year focus.
On May 6, students and staff dressed in their best and if you entered PCMS you were likely to run into a rock star or two.
At the end of the day, Mr. Utz held a celebration assembly where the student body celebrated accomplishments such as winning first in the state for bridge building, qualifying for all-district band, Science Olympiad awards and Special Olympics.
Students were also recognized for participating in yearbook, the school play, Student Leadership Council, Peer Helpers and Project Unify just to name a few.
At the end of the assembly, Mr. Utz reminded students how important these last few weeks of school are and how everyone needs to focus on their academics to end the year successfully.
The assembly concluded with teachers singing several pop songs that were rewritten by Stacey Shields with lyrics that gave test taking tips.
The staff at PCMS hopes that all students will Rock the Test at the end of the year.
