Tryon author Mary Ann Claud will be the speaker at Lanier Library’s Brown Bag Lunch on Tuesday, May 13.
050714-LanierLibraryMay13BrownBagBWA native of Lancaster, S.C., Claud is a former columnist for the Hendersonville Times-News, and has taught courses in creative writing and literature. Her first novel is titled “The Dancin’ Man” and tells the story of a man who marries into a southern textile family, helping to build the family business into one of the most respected manufacturing companies in the South and learning to fit in along the way.
Poet and novelist, Elizabeth Cox, author of “The Slow Moon” and one of the presenters at the Lanier Library Poetry Festival in April reviewed the novel, predicting that “no one who reads this book will fail to be moved by the dramatic resolutions.”
Jon Buchan, author of “Code of the Forest”, lauds Claud for having “a peregrine eye for detail and an ear for truth-telling dialogue.”
The Brown Bag Lunch will be held at noon in the library. The event is free and open to the public, and listeners are welcome to bring a lunch. For more information or to become a member of the Lanier Library, visit www.lanierlib.org, call 828-859-9535 or visit the library during open hours.
