Every year the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) awards scholarships to the children of Foreign Service Officers serving worldwide. This year one of their top academic scholarships went to one of Polk County’s own kids, Morgan Pratt. Pratt has lived in Polk County since 2009, but divides his time between Tryon and living overseas with his family, as his father is a US Diplomat. Pratt and his family are currently posted in New Delhi, India but will return to Tryon this summer before Pratt heads to UNC Chapel Hill this fall.
As one of the highest scoring students in the competition, Pratt has also been chosen to receive one of nine “named” scholarships in the AFSA Merit Awards Program. These donors have established a scholarship in their name and every year AFSA bestows their award. Pratt will be receiving the Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program Academic Merit Award.
