Tryon artists Carol Swetman and Lori Heckelman will be hosting a reception for their show “Canvas and Paper” on Saturday May 10 from 5-8 p.m. at the Depot at Milliard & Company in Tryon. The show, which runs May 1-24 features original paintings by the two artists. Swetman, an award winning interior designer and artist, paints a variety of subjects primarily with watercolors on paper. Interested to see the outcome of her interpretation of a subject or scene and the sheer enjoyment of the process are why she paints.Heckelman has a background in fine art and illustration and paints with oil on canvas. An avid outdoor enthusiast she finds inspiration in the natural world and paints landscapes and animals as well as commissioned animal portraits.
