Gerald “Shine” Ravan

Gerald Austin “Shine” Ravan, 74, of Columbus, N.C. passed Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbus, N.C.
Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late J.D. and Nell Dedman Ravan. Shine was a tree cutter/landscaper for over 50 years.  He was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bid” Ravan.
Surviving is his wife, Beatrice Waters Ravan of Columbus, N.C.; two sons, Lucas Ravan of Columbus, N.C. and Jeremy Ravan of Columbus, N.C.; two brothers, Charles Ravan (Faye) of Monks Corner, S.C. and Phillip Ravan (Kay) of Columbus, NC; two sisters, Diane Recca of Greenville, S.C. and Shirley Nunn of Green Creek, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C. with Rev. John Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the funeral chapel.
