The juried show opened Friday night to a capacity crowd of over 250 people. Fifty-seven local and regional artists were represented in this show, which was judged by Molly Sharp and David Vorhees of Hendersonville. Of the 122 entries Tryon Arts & Crafts received, close to 100 pieces were selected for the show. From those, the jurors selected 6 pieces to be awarded.

First: Shane Urquhart for “Damascus Knives, Set of Two”
Second: Ann Gleason for “Not tonight, Dear” (set of porcelain rabbits)
Third: Danielle Miller for “Effervescence Brooch”
Honorable Mention:
Frank Reed for “Holy Place” (wooden platter)
Gary Huntoon for “Black Lidded Jar” (pottery)
Clark Loro  for “Ghost Ship” (assemblage)
The Craft Tryon show will be open to the public until May 30 and visitors may visit the gallery daily from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 1p.m. The hours are the same for the Tryon Arts and Crafts gift shop offering a wide array of local artists’ work at affordable prices.
