Gloria B. Phillips

Gloria Burns Phillips, 82, formerly of Mill Spring, N.C. passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Laurelwoods nursing facility, Columbus, N.C.
Born Nov. 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Della Burrell Burns.  Gloria was the widow of Ernest Phillips who died in 2002 and was a member of Pea Ridge Baptist Church.  She worked for many years in the textile industry.
Surviving are: three daughters, Evelyn Barnes of Mill Spring, N.C.; Doris Laughter (Clyde) of Campobello, S.C. and Lynne Price (Joey Benson) of Landrum, S.C.; and a brother, Wiley Burns of Winston-Salem, N.C.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Byron Laughter (Kim), Adrienne Barnes and Corey Barnes.  Gloria was preceded in death by four siblings:  Betsy, Ruth, Dallas and Carlus.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.
Burial will follow in Pea Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday just prior to the service in the McFarland’s Funeral Chapel.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, Doris Phillips Laughter, 875 Old Melvin Hill Rd. Campobello, S.C. 29322
The family would like to express a special “thank you” to the employees of LaurelWoods and Hospice for the excellent care given to their mother over the years.
