Harmon Field Music Festival promises to be real crowd pleaser

The first ever Harmon Field Music Festival will kick off Saturday at 10 a.m. Eight bands are on the schedule to entertain you along with delicious local foods, a classic car show, fun activities for the kids and more.
Reasonably priced gourmet food is available from Bright’s Creek. If you prefer simpler fare – we have that too. Bill Crowell’s famous TDDA hot dogs are a sure winner.
Chicken, BBQ, popcorn, funnel cake, soft drink, beer and wine vendors will also be on sight.
The Festival is an all day and into the early evening event so dress appropriately. Bring blankets, sunscreen and your camera. Try your hand at spin art, let the kids enjoy the large bouncy house and, for the young at heart, there’s a corn hole (bean bag) toss.
Everyone will enjoy the not-to -be-missed, classic car show with people’s choice awards.
Band schedule: Trophy Husbands 11 a.m., Honey & the Hotrods 12 noon, Van Dangs 1:20 p.m., Deadfields 2:30 p.m., Antibodies with the Pulse 3:40 p.m., Jay Goree’s Texilana band 4:30 p.m. and the Jim Peterman Quartette featuring Wanda Johnson starting at 6 p.m.
A large soundstage will be set up along the North Pacolet River, in the back of Harmon Field, across from the maintenance shed (in “Hog Heaven”). You can park anywhere in the Harmon Field parking areas, but the entrance is across the bridge from the Open Air Gym (behind Tryon Arts & Crafts).
Come out and show the love for Harmon field, a family friendly 47 acre “playground” with horse show grounds, tennis courts, soccer field, baseball fields, running and walking track, basketball courts, and picnic tables.
Two and a half men keep the grounds up, perform all general maintenance and everyday up- keep. This event is a fundraiser, with low-cost tickets. For more information, visit www.harmonfieldmusicfestival.com
