An intensive one-day workshop, Abstract and Non-Objective Painting in mixed watermedia, taught by Patricia Cole-Ferullo, will be offered at the Ferullo Fine Art Studio, 140 Pacolet Street Tryon. Saturday, April 19 from 9:30 a.m. – 5p.m.
Abstract expressionist giants Rothko, Pollack, Motherwell, Diebenkorn, Frankenthaler and you. This workshop is for anyone who would like to explore abstract painting, or discover its origins, techniques and materials in an informal friendly setting.
Participants will learn about color, texture, composition and self-expression as they create paintings using acrylic, watercolor, guache and natural pigments.
Investigation of paint, surfaces, paint handling and expressive line work, along with color mixing will be explored in creating art that is intuitive and uniquely their own.  Inspiration will be taken from nature and imagination, following participants intuition as the painting takes form.
Each technique will be demonstrated, followed by personal guidance as they proceed. The day will conclude with a lively discussion and comment period on the finished art work.
Lunch will be provided and is included in the price. Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks and/or beverages.
Ferrulo has been the recipient of many awards nationally and internationally, most recently as a top 10 finalist for her painting “Rising Expectations” in The Artists’ Magazine 26th Annual International Competition, Abstract/Non Representational category.  She is also featured in the online publication “A Walk Into Abstraction.”
Examples of Patricia’s work and complete biography can be seen at www.theartistindex or stop by the studio/gallery 140 Pacolet Street, by appointment.
