There were about 500 people in the Polk County Courtroom on Monday, March 17 when the fire alarm began sounding.
The building was immediately evacuated with the problem determined to be not a fire, but the sprinkler system.
The Polk County Communication’s Department received the call at 10:10 a.m.
According to Polk County Emergency Management Director Bobby Arledge, a sprinkler pipe in the clerk’s office burst, which set the fire alarm off.
Water was turned off for a few minutes while the pipe was drained and the problem was fixed in a short amount of time.
