Sixth graders design Mosaic tiles at PCMS

Polk County Middle School sixth graders were recently given a chance to leave their designs permantly at the school thanks to funding from the Tryon Fine Arts Center and Rutherford Electric Membership Program.
Sixth graders in Betsy Walters’ classes worked on designing mosaic tiles recently at Polk County Middle School (PCMS).
The project is entitled “Leaving Your Mark” and is in the second year at PCMS.
Sixth graders designed their own mosaic tile to be hung in the school to leave their mark in the coming years.
In sixth grade, the social studies curriculum looks at different cultures and how they leave their mark on history.
This project ties in with curriculum at PCMS and also let’s students be creative and leave a piece of themselves with PCMS.
This project is funded by the Tryon Fine Arts Center Be Inspired Grant program and the Bright Ideas Grant program with Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation.
