The Second Saturday Contra Dance in Saluda will take place this Saturday, March 8. This is the annual St. Patrick’s Dance, so individuals are invited to come dressed in green and prepared to dance to Celtic music.
In February more than 100 dancers attended the dance to enjoy Charlotte Crittenden’s calling and Hey For Four’s tunes. In March, the group will dance to music by Skeeziks.
The group will have Alan Dillman on fiddle, Joesl Mcconnell on mandolin and bouzouki, Wes Maluk on guitar and tenor banjo and Terry Mauk on percussion. The caller is Jennie Wakefield.
The event will be at the Party Place and Event Center venue with its huge dance floor and quality sound system. The address is Friendship Church Road in Saluda.
When dancers get to the Saluda exit, turn towards town and then take the first left onto Howard Gap Road. In about 100 yards, Howard Gap will go right and The Party Place is to the left.
Beginner lessons start at 7 p.m., so if new dancers should come early. Regular dance is 7:30-10 p.m. There is a small charge for admission but get in free if you bring two new dancers. More information available at 828-489-6578.
