Rubylee Hanchett of Landrum had one wish for her 95th birthday – to ride her Paso Fino horse; Chari.
On Friday, Feb. 21 at a birthday party at her home, hosted by BrightStar, Ruby’s wish was granted.
After a 15 minute ride, Ruby enjoyed a “horse birthday cake,” made especially for her by neighbor, Doris Becknell.
Those who attended the party included David and Celeste Vaughan, Molly Stroud, Tori Wilson, Marsha Randolph, Tena McDowell and Judith Nelson.
Other guests were Judy Redix, Tom Belzer, Martine Diaz and family, Joe and Doris Becknell and a longtime riding buddy, Pat Mitchem.
Ruby has resided at in her home for 20 years, and has owned Chari for 30 years. After Ruby helped care for her close friend and riding buddy, June DeWolfe, who passed away last year, Ruby had not ridden Chari for three-plus years.
