The Partnership for Children of the Foothills announces a new grant program sponsored by the Partnerships’ board of directors.
The Family Grant Program is an opportunity for a local family, with at least one child age 0-5 in the home, to receive up to $500 for something that will make a big difference to the family.
“Our board really wanted to use their board giving dollars to support local families and really make an impact,” said Barry Gold, executive director. “Examples of items the committee might consider are the purchase of tires, a security deposit, car seats or the purchase of a washer and dryer.”
The Family Grant Program will make grants up to $500. Criteria for consideration requires each family to be a resident of McDowell, Polk or Rutherford County; at least one child age 5 or under must live in the home; and family income requirements follow food stamp income qualification guidelines.
Applications, along with a self-addressed envelope, are available at Polk County DSS, the Health Department, Polk County Library, local childcare centers or by calling the partnership office at 828-245-8673.
The application deadline is Thursday, March 13 and awards will be announced in early April during “Week of the Young Child.”
The Partnership for Children of the Foothills is a non-profit organization working to ensure access to high quality care and education for all children and supporting childcare providers and families of children ages 0-5.
The organization leverages investments from local, state and national partners to ensure we meet our goal of every child entering school ready to succeed.
