Sue Brooks has been inducted into the Second Wind Hall of Fame and received her certificate at a recent Sunday worship service at the Columbus United Methodist Church.

Brooks was sponsored by the church and nominated in recognition of her many years of volunteer service.

In 2002, she began working with the Polk County 4-H Club sewing project to teach students how to sew and make a garment.

The project concludes in a 4-H Fashion Show. This was done many times over the years up to 2012.

In 2006 Brooks began work with Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and has served in several different capacities with HOCF. At the church, she has been active in many areas, including the United Methodist Women, assisting with children’s Sunday School classes, the annual Spaghetti Supper and Peach Festival and vacation bible school.

Sue Brooks and her husband, Jerry moved to Columbus in 1999.

The objective of the Second Wind Hall of Fame is to recognize retirees for outstanding service to others and their community, and thus to encourage  and provide incentives for other retirees to do likewise.
