The South Carolina Treasure and Artifact Association meets monthly on the fourth Monday, Jan. – Nov. at 7:15 p.m. The meetings are at the Greer Recreation Center at 226 Oakland Ave., Greer, S.C., 29650.
The group’s interest lies in the search and recovery of lost articles, coin shooting, jewelry hunting, beach hunting and relic hunting for items such as Revolutionary or Civil War memorabilia.
At the meeting, members bring in their finds for the month for a monthly contest. Members vote on the best finds in several categories and prizes are awarded. Points are accumulated toward a yearly contest as well. Each month, there will also be a short program related to the hobby of metal detecting.
Kenny Brackett, association president, was responsible for finding the artifacts placed in the recently renovated Landrum Train Depot.
To read more about the artifacts he found see the October issue of “Life in Our Foothills.”
For more information about membership please contact Kenny Brackett at 704-796-8776.
