Tryon to generate new ideas for Christmas decorations

The Town of Tryon plans to form a committee for new ideas on the town’s Christmas decorations.
Commissioner Happy McLeod said an idea has surfaced that instead of waiting until the town’s lights go up to have opinions, that the town should form a committee of people who would like to study the decorations.
Tryon Downtown Development Association (TDDA) has given a $500 grant for the town’s decorations.
Town manager Joey Davis said he would like to know a target number of what the council would like the town to spend on decorations. He said he’s trying to get an early start and asked council for their input for the budget.
McLeod agreed to lead the committee.
She said people visit towns only for their lights and there are a lot of ways Tryon can be shown off even better.
“We’ve got it,” McLeod said. “Let’s flaunt it.”
Anyone interested in serving on the decorations committee is urged to contact town hall at 828-859-6654.
