Jan. 27 AAUW meeting to feature Stephanie Moore

Stephanie Moore will be the featured speaker at the American Association of University Women meeting on Monday, Jan. 27. Her subject will be “The Imprint of Women on the Craft Movement in Western North Carolina”.
Moore, now an Asheville resident, lived in the Washington, D.C. area for 20 years and last served as the director of visual arts for VSA, an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She is currently the executive director of The Center for Craft Creativity & Design. Located in downtown Asheville, the center is a nationally recognized nonprofit that advances the understanding of craft by supporting research, scholarship and professional development.
Each guest at the meeting will receive a complimentary copy of “Soul’s Journey”, a DVD series that features studio visits by the region’s most compelling craft artists.
AAUW is a nationwide network of university women whose mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
The Tryon Branch of AAUW will meet Monday, Jan. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at the Tryon Presbyterian Fellowship Hall. The meeting is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
