Elizabeth “Lizz” Stott Burrell, 86, of Stott’s Corner, Columbus, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2014 in the Oakland Living Center, Rutherfordton, N.C.

Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Tessie Culbreth Stott. She was married for 54 years to Lee M. Burrell, who died in 2009. Lizz was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Columbus.

Surviving are two sons, Randy Burrell (Elizabeth) of Columbus and David Burrell (Pam) of Landrum; two daughters, Bethene B. Garrett (Ronnie) and Sonja B. Laughter, both of Columbus; four brothers, Cecil Stott (Shirley) of Landrum; James Hugh Stott (Peggy), Harold Stott (Barbara) and Larry Stott (Doris), all of Columbus; and a sister-in-law, Marvetta Stott of Columbus.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren Cade, Bryce, Coley, Gabriel, Jansen and Elijah Burrell, Langlee and Jarvis Garrett, Tia and Torri Laughter; and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clifford, Junior, Alvin and Bobby Stott. She was also predeceased by Hal Fisher.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Columbus, with Rev. Gary Lockee and Rev. Michael Keel officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.

The family will be at the home, 4590 Landrum Rd., Columbus.
