Carolina Keglers keep low key fun alive
Published 7:34 pm Thursday, January 9, 2014
The Carolina Keglers is a very low-key fun league for women and men over 50 who want a little recreation and a little exercise.
The emphasis is on fun, not competition. Bowlers are placed on a new team each week. Stats are kept for individuals, not for teams.
This format is quite different from traditional bowling leagues, but the Keglers seem to really enjoy it. They bowl on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. at Autumn Lanes in Forest City.
The lanes are made of real wood, rare in today’s synthetic world.
Following are the highlights of the bowling on Wednesday, Jan. 8:
High games over average:
Mike Davidson +54 = 219
Kay Shockley +46 = 173
Dianne Poague +33 =183
Chuck Ott +32 = 177
Dave Ritchie +31 = 170
High series over average:
Mike Davidson +53 = 551
Kenneth Williams +42 = 382
Ruby Drew +39 = 418
Dianne Poague +34 = 486
Bret Diedrich +32 = 376
Anyone wishing to join the Carolina Keglers, should contact Mike Davidson at 828-894-5823 or email kwk1970@windstream.net.
Members are asked to call Davidson when they cannot bowl.
