William Albert Boyd Jr. 81, of Tryon passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2013 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.
Born in Liberty, S.C. in 1932, he was the son of the late William and Myrtle Boyd Sr.  A graduate of Furman University, he retired from the U.S. Army after 28 years of service.  William was active in his community, volunteering with AARP as a driving instructor and tax aide, as well as Meals on Wheels and the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.
Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth Minders (Frank) of Snellville, Ga.; Catherine Blythe Heidrich (John) of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and Brooke Mitchell (Keith) of Summerville, S.C.; and one son, Brian Boyd of Woodstock, Ga. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Justin and Caitlin Heidrich; and Brittany and Carson Boyd.
