Polk County is setting up an emergency shelter for area residents without heat or a place to stay during the cold temperatures tonight and into tomorrow. Polk County Interim Manager Marche Pittman announced during the county commissioner meeting Monday, Jan. 6 that the shelter will be at the Polk County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Columbus.
