The auditorium of Polk County High School echoed with the carols played at the 16th presentation of TubaChristmas on Dec. 7.

The stage was aglow with tubas and euphonium, some decorated with red and green for the season.

There were 50 participants on the stage and another 20 volunteers in the background.

The players were very diverse from four players holding advanced degrees and many years in music education to one student who had been playing less than a year.

Their ages ranged from 87 to 12 and they came from North and South Carolina traveling up to 200 miles for the day.

Some audience comments included “Great way to start the season” and “My favorite concert of the year.”

Appreciation is extended to conductor Dr. William Bryant and honor soloist Froy Barbosa.

Plan ahead by saving Dec. 6, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. for the 17th annual TubaChristmas Concert and Carol Sing.
