A total of 14 music students from Landrum and Polk County high schools have applied to the Laurel Lake Music Society for scholarships to the Cannon Summer Music Camp in Boone, N.C.

The Music Camp will be held in June and July of 2014 and offers a comprehensive course of musical instruction.

Auditions for the scholarships will be held on Jan. 18 and the DVD recordings will be sent to Appalachian State University for review.

Based on their rankings, the most accomplished students will be awarded scholarships.  A recital and awards program will be held for Tryon Estates residents on Feb. 18, with performances by the students selected for scholarships.

These scholarships are made possible by the tax deductible donations made to the Laurel Lake Music Society by the residents of Tryon Estates.
