FFA Vet Science Team places second in Western region

The Polk County FFA Vet Science Team of (L to R) Alana Seay, Logan Morlino, Erica Sullivan and Keilegh McMurray placed second in the Western Region of North Carolina.

The Polk County FFA Vet Science Team of (L to R) Alana Seay, Logan Morlino, Erica Sullivan and Keilegh McMurray placed second in the Western Region of North Carolina.

The Polk County FFA Chapter participated in the State FFA Vet Science Career Development Event on Nov. 16 at West Johnston High School in Benson, N.C.

Team members include Keileigh McMurray, Erica Sullivan, Alana Seay and Logan Morlino. Their advisor is Ashley Gilbert. These four young ladies placed second in the Western Region of North Carolina.

“Through participation, members gain and strengthen career skills,” says Jason Davis, State FFA Coordinator for North Carolina.

The vet science CDE participants demonstrate their knowledge in all facets of the veterinary science from breed and parasite identification to clinical and handling practicums. One of Polk County’s local equine veterinarians, Bibi Freer, assisted the team during practices to better prepare them for the competition.
