Students were given the opportunity to explore different areas of learning through different areas.

Layne Kirkland, seventh grade science teacher said, “Students really enjoyed the Cool Stuff exhibit as they were able to launch objects into the air, lie on a bed of nails and crush a garbage can.  This exhibit allowed students to become aware of new scientific concepts in a hands-on, inquiry-based atmosphere. Students also visited a rain forest exhibit and the aquarium which allowed students to observe ecosystems from around the world, including a coral reef, North Carolina coastal habitats, and a seafloor reef featuring sharks, stingrays, and more.”

Seventh grade science teacher Craig Claussen said, “Discovery Place was such a great learning field trip for the kids because it demonstrated so many physics concocts in ways we would never be able to in the classroom, however, when we discuss these concepts we will be able to revisit their experiences.”
