Timothy Westbrook

 Timothy L. Westbrook, 75, of White Oak Mountain Road, Columbus, NC died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at his home following a brief illness.

Born Sept. 17, 1938  in Rockford, Ill., he was the son of the late Roy L. and Helen M. Lorenzen Westbrook. Tim was active in Boy Scouts of America and achieved the highest honor of  Eagle Scout, earning the ultimate Silver Palm. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army. Tim served his tool and die apprenticeship with National Lock Hardware where he was employed as an engineer for more than 30 years, helping to relocate the company to Spartanburg, S.C. in l982.  He retired from Bommer Industries, Landrum, in 2005.  He  was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rockford, Ill. and  a charter member of  Trinity Lutheran Church, Tryon.

Tim leaves behind his loving  wife of 30  years, Jane Ann Balluff Westbrook; two daughters, Ann M. Ragnar (Tom) and Laura  L. Boothe (Chris King) both of Rockford, Ill.; son, David  J. Westbrook (Di) of Gurnee, Ill. and five grandchildren:  Katherine M. Ragnar; James and Trystan Boothe and Jessica and Jordan Westbrook.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Tryon, with Pastor Thomas Olson officiating. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. Sunday prior to the service in Trinity Lutheran Church.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 in the Willwood Cemetery, Rockford, Ill. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3353  U. S. Hwy. 176, Tryon, NC 28782 or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
