The Polk County Memorial VFW Post #9116 and Ladies Auxiliary (Columbus) has held a Veterans day service at the Veterans Brick Memorial in Columbus every year at 11 a.m., since it was built. It took a parade to get more people to honor the Veterans on Nov. 11 and we are proud to be a part of it.
Sheriff Donald Hill, his parents and the Sheriff’s Department worked day after day on leaves and placing new mulch and gravel provided by Mack Henson. Joel Bradley supplied and erected the tent.
A lot of hard work went into the preparation for Veterans Day and we are all thankful for the committee that carried it out, all that cared to be a part of it and those that came to be with the veterans.
