Norma Buratti Evola

Norma Buratti Evola, 81, of Winterset Trail, Tryon, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 in White Oak Manor, Tryon.

Born in Corona, Queens County, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Remo and Rosina Venetti Buratti.
She moved to Tryon in l989 with her beloved husband Philip to enjoy their retirement.

Prior to moving to North Carolina, Norma resided in Palisades, N.Y. for 28 years where she raised her family and was an active member in the community.

Norma performed volunteer work for many groups over the years and took on leadership roles in the Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels and the Literacy Council.

Norma also enjoyed traveling and was an active member in the local, Italian Language Club, Buon Giorno.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Philip Evola; two daughters, Laura (Dr. Jay) Hendler of Charlotte, N.C. and Gena Evola (Peter) Cowell of Bakersfield, Calif.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Gregory and Matthew Hendler and Grant Cowell.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel Tryon.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
