Through the generosity of the auxiliary, St. Luke’s Hospital patients will benefit from an impressive new addition that will soon open, and employees will have immediate access to confidential correspondence through a secure internet server. Without the support of the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, these needs may not have been met.
Of the Auxiliary’s recent gift of $40,000, $12,000 will go towards the new patient wing and rehab center and $28,000 will purchase the hospital-wide secure internet server and system.
“Our main goal is to support the needs of St. Luke’s Hospital in caring for our patients and in providing a great place to work for healthcare professionals,” said Wendy Field, former chair of the hospital’s Auxiliary. “We are blessed to have a dedicated group of individuals who contribute time, talent and money to help the hospital to meet the needs in our community.”
Each year, after the hospital’s capital budget is approved, the Auxiliary reviews a “Wish List” of items needed by the various departments throughout the hospital.
From this list, the auxiliary determines what they can fund with proceeds from the St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, the Hospital Gift Shop and from personal contributions.
“Hospital equipment and healthcare technology are extremely costly, and we have to make choices each year as to what is priority and what, if anything, can wait,” said Ken Shull, chief executive officer of St. Luke’s Hospital. “Without the financial support and gifts of time from the Auxiliary, we would have a more difficult time serving our patients.”
With the generous support of the Auxiliary, St. Luke’s Hospital remains committed to providing exceptional care, close to home.
