Susie DeLuciano and John Calure eat donuts to prepare for their roles as the local law enforcers in Neil Simon’s “Rumors.” A plethora of great characters will have audience members falling on the floor with laughter. Don’t miss this show. This week is its second and final week at the Tryon Little Theater’s Workshop. See page 7 for the article. (photo submitted by Monica Jones)

You need to have someone to sort out the mess, and that’s usually the boys in blue. Usually. But maybe not in Neil Simon’s “Rumors.”

To find out if the strong arm of the law can whip these misfits into shape, a visit to the theater is in order – Tryon Little Theater.

Although the roles of Officer Welch and Officer Pudney are small, no part is too small or too insignificant to the plot of a well-scripted play; and to prove that point, two very well-seasoned actors have taken on the challenge.

New to TLT is Susie DeLuciano, aka Pudney. Born and raised in Southern Florida she has been involved in community theater practically her whole life.

She toured with and played many roles from Alice  (“Alice in Wonderland”) to Dorine (“Tartuffe”), and has also appeared in a few commercials as well as the movie “Unholy” with Hal Holbrook and Ben Cross.

John Calure is known to Tryon audiences as a veteran actor and director who has been involved in TLT since the late 1980s.  He and his wife Cathy participated in many shows as well as working the technical side of productions. Now he’s acting president of TLT and thrilled to be involved with yet another show with such a great cast.

So can the boys in blue deliver?  You’ll just have to witness it first-hand!  Neil Simon’s “Rumors” runs for its second week, Nov. 21-24 at the TLT Workshop at 516 S. Trade St. in Tryon. Evening performances start at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.
