Susan Boyer, author of an absorbing new mystery, “Lowcountry Bombshell,” will have a reading/ signing event at The Book Shelf in Tryon on Nov. 23 from 2 – 4 p.m.
The sequel to Susan’s award-winning mystery, “Lowcountry Boil,” “Lowcountry Bombshell” with its wonderfully eccentric characters appeals to readers beyond the traditional boundaries of mystery devotees to also engage a broad mainstream audience.
In “Lowcountry Bombshell,” Liz Talbot, the detective protagonist, is much more than a mere investigator; she is a well-rounded character full of joys, desires, fears and more than a few personality quirks.
Her client is Calista McQueen, a Marilyn Monroe doppelganger. Also, like the starlet Marilyn who embraced her role of sensual and voluptuous beauty on the surface and yearned for acceptance for her true self, Calista is a deeply feeling person who yearns for genuine love and friendship from others.
