The fifth grade class from Immaculata Catholic School in Hendersonville recently visited the House of Flags Museum in Columbus.

Several parents accompanied them. Organizers said the visit was very successful.

Frank Ortiz led the tour for the boys in the group and Jan Collins toured the girls. They were extremely impressed with the museum and it was an excellent learning opportunity for them.

The students said they were particularly interested in the history of the American flag and even more so with the history of the Liberty Cap and the part it plays in both past and present flags.

The House of Flags Museum is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tours at other times may be arranged by calling 828-894-5640 or by email at flagmuseum@gmail.com. Admission is free but donations are appreciated. The museum gift shop is well stocked with many flags.
