Delta Kappa Gamma meets in Polk County

The Gamma Beta Chapter of DKG met Sept. 16 at Southern Manners restaurant in Columbus. After dinner the group moved to the Polk County Early College.

Dave Scherping, Polk County Schools director of technology and accountability, conducted a tour of the Early College and explained the program there.

He then gave an informative discussion with visuals about the Facebook facility in Rutherfordton.

His program also included a discussion of Power School, the new computera program being implemented in Polk Schools that enables parents to obtain immediate feedback on their student’s progress.

After the program, president Peggy Edwards conducted the business meeting.

She also informed members that the Beginning Teacher Project, providing refreshments for beginning teachers and new staff training, was very successful.

Polk members in attendance were Peggy Edwards, Della Frye, Jeannie Soloman, Beth McCallister, Norma Hill, Deborah Owensby, Dottie Kinlaw, Judy Banks and Carol Lawrence.
