Doris Hardin Williams

Doris Hardin Williams, 80, of Mill Spring, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 2013 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, S.C. following a sudden illness.

Born in Rutherford County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Ezra Hardin and Lola Mae Ferguson Hardin and widow of JD Williams, who died in 2010. Mrs. Williams was a retired teacher’s aid at Sunny View Elementary School. She was a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring. Mrs. Williams enjoyed the great outdoors.

Surviving is one daughter, Susan Gilbert of Inman, S.C.; two sons, William Skipper of Hendersonville, N.C. and Mark Skipper of Mill Spring; one brother, Charles L. Hardin of Forest City, N.C.; four sisters, Marie McDaniel of Forest City, N.C., Joyce Keeler of Rock Hill, S.C., Brenda Stott of Bostic, N.C. and Carolyn Towery of Rutherfordton, N.C. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Penny McKinney and Barbara Williams, both of Florida; and two step-sons, Chester Williams and Jerry Williams, both of Florida.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dianne Jackson and one brother, Leo Hardin.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring, with Rev. Donald Hollifield, Rev. Warren Elliott and Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Friday from 2- 2:45 p.m. at the Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
