Amy Brucksch performs throughout the area as a soloist and with eclectic ensembles, celebrating the rich heritage of the classical guitar and forming new collaborations with world-renowned musicians.

Formerly on the faculty of the University of Toledo, she was asked to start a classical guitar program this fall at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, where she currently has 75 budding young classical guitarists.

She also teaches privately at Wild Roots Fine Arts Center in Forest City, N.C. and has established GrooveNGuitars, a program for at-risk children.

Kathleen Foster received her B.S. in music from Indiana University, where she studied with famed cellists Janos Starker and Fritz Magg. She received her MM from Bowling Green State University, working with Peter Howard.

Foster lived in Maine, where she was on the faculty at Bates and Bowdoin Colleges.

Since relocating to Rutherfordton, N.C., Foster teaches for the Lawson Academy at Converse College and is a member of the Lawson Trio.

Additionally, Foster is a member of the Asheville Symphony and the Spartanburg Philharmonic. She performs frequently with her accompanist, pianist Alison Lewis.

The FMC 25th Anniversary Gala Concert will be on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Tryon Fine Arts Center. Tickets are available from FMC members, as well as at TFAC 828-859-8322. In addition, raffle tickets for a condominium stay near Charleston, S.C., are available for purchase, with a maximum of 200 tickets to be sold.

All proceeds from the gala concert and the raffle go to FMC’s Young Musicians Scholarship Program. Foothills Music Club Inc. is a 501(c)(3) designated organization.
