With crews pouring concrete for the newly refurbished St. Luke’s Plaza this week, the town has announced an additional opportunity for citizens to be involved in the face lift of this central portion of downtown.
“Tryon’s new St. Luke’s Plaza is a fine example of what proactive partnerships can accomplish, and we are close to completion,” said Tryon’s Economic Development Director Crys Armbrust. “To bring this project full circle, we again turn to friends, citizens and lovers of Tryon and invite you to put your mark on the plaza.”
A portion of the project includes the purchase of benches, tables, chairs and a fountain through sponsorships.
Armbrust said the plaza portion should be complete in about three weeks and the town hopes to have all of the furniture purchased within that time frame.
The outdoor space surrounding Terra On Trade and The Ruby Slipper will include five 6-foot, backless benches; 11 total 46-inch round, pedestal tables with custom “Town of Tryon” lettering; 55 armchairs with a custom Morris the horse design and a naming opportunity for the St. Luke’s Plaza water fountain.
Donors for the benches, tables and chairs will be listed on a comprehensive plaque within the main landscaping.
Armbrust said the town must have a minimum of five tables and 25 chairs purchased to submit the first order to Leisure Craft Inc. in Hendersonville, which will produce the furniture.
Forms for sponsorships can be found at Tryon Town Hall, Trade Street Gallery Coffee House, The Ruby Slipper and La Bouteille. They can also be found online at exploretryon.com.
