Bob Richardson Jr.

Robert “Bob” Ramsey Richardson Jr., 86, of Columbus, passed away Thursday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2013 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum.

Born in New Orleans, La., he was the son of the late Robert Ramsey Richardson Sr. and Geneva Adams Richardson.

Richardson attended Asheville School and entered the US Navy serving during WWII. He worked for the Richardson Company in Melrose Park, Ill. from 1947 to 1975, then move to Tryon and purchased Blue Ridge Weavers, retiring in 2000.

Mr. Richardson was an avid woodworker who designed and build sets at the Tryon Little Theater for many years and made “Morris the Horse” ornaments and toys. He was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Neaman Richardson, who died in 1990.
