The Polk County Sheriff’s Department’s new police dog, Ike, and his handler, Ronnie Russell, recently visited the residents at Laurelhurst Retirement Community.

Russell answered questions about their training, care and handling of Ike, and the role of a police dog.

“Ike is a beautiful dog,” said one resident.

Ike didn’t seem to notice all the attention, as he was much more interested in playing with his toy.
