Published 11:05 pm Monday, September 9, 2013
The month of September will be a busy one at the Tryon Painters and Sculptors’ gallery in Tryon.
Several class offerings are scheduled to begin within the month and the range of media and instructors promises to have interest for a variety of students.
Starting up again are the figure drawing open studios held on Thursday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. or Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Each of these studios has a class monitor and a nude model. No instruction is given during the class, but students are encouraged to bring their favorite medias. Poses will range from a few minutes to a half hour.
Grace Lertora, president of Tryon Painters and Sculptors, will teach a Wednesday morning painting class for all levels. All media will be covered including watercolor, acrylic and oil. The first sessions will feature a still life set up as reference for the painting. This class will run from 9 a.m. to noon and will begin on Sept. 11.
Julia Calhoun Williams will offer a first time pastel drawing class on Wednesday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. that will begin on Sept. 25.
Lalage Warrington, a familiar instructor at Tryon Painters and Sculptors, will offer a clay sculpture class with a choice of working in the round or as bas-relief. Students should bring their own photo references for this class. The first session of this class is Monday, Sept. 23 from 1-4 p.m.
