Marlene Joyce Balog, 76, of Stone Circle Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at her home.

Born in Monessen, Penn., she was the daughter of the late George and Olga Kotys Balog.  Marlene worked for American Airlines and was an executive for the Union.

She also wrote the forward for the book “Coffee, Tea or Me.” Marlene moved to Polk County in 2000 coming from Phoenix, Ariz.  Locally, she volunteered with Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and Meals on Wheels.

Surviving is a brother, George G. Balog of Abingdon, MD.

There will be no local services.
