At the September meeting of the Polk County Historical Association, the guest speaker will be Ron Coddington from Arlington, Va.

Coddington will discuss his new book “African American Faces of the Civil War.”

The book contains pictures of African American soldiers who enlisted during the Civil War and includes their individual stories based on original letters, journal entries and other primary source documents.

The meeting will be held at the Polk County Historical Museum in Columbus on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 2:30 pm.

The program is free and open to the public.
