Gallery Internationale in Flat Rock is pleased to announce that they will be hosting “Art from the Heart, Poems from the Soul,” an exhibit of art and poetry by Tryon artist Vicki Van Vynckt.
The show is celebrating Van Vynckt’s 30 years of painting in oils and writing poetry. It is being dedicated to her grandfather, who also was an artist and poet. Included in the exhibit will be 30-40 of  Van Vynckt’s landscapes and skyscapes with poems along with a self portrait and landscape painting by her grandfather.
Van Vynckt earned a degree in fine art from The University of Southern Indiana and later took classes through The Atelier art school in Minneapolis. There she learned classical drawing techniques and plein-air painting.
Her paintings have been displayed in more than 60 exhibitions, many of them solo. She has exhibited in galleries throughout the country and her work hangs in private collections across the United States.
“Painting for me is an expression of gratitude for the gifts nature provides us. Stop for a moment and take in the magnificence of the changing sky, the sound of bubbling water in a brook, a flower up close, or the rose glow on the mountains as the sun goes down in the west,” Van Vynckt says. “There is a deep spirituality to everything we find, and it is as close to us as our heartbeat.”
Gallery Internationale is hosting the opening for Vicki’s show on  Sunday, August 4, from 4-8 p.m. at 2760 Greenville Hwy (US 25) Flat Rock, N.C. 28731, located in the Cherry Cottage at Rainbow Row.
The show runs from Aug. 4-31. Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Call Francesca Armijo at 828-692-4638 for more information.
