Do you have an abundance of vegetables in your garden, but you’re just not comfortable with the canning process?
Cooperative Extension has a class for you.
The Polk County Cooperative Extension is offering a hands-on canning class. This hands-on class will take you step by step through the process of using a pressure cooker. Whether you are a first timer or just need to brush up on your canning skills, this class is for you.
Renay Knapp, with the Hendersonville Cooperative Extension service, will guide the class through the process of canning vegetables. At the end of the class, each participant will receive a pint of canned vegetables, processed in the class.
The class will be held at the Polk County Extension Center on Monday, Aug. 5. This two to three hour workshop will be at 2 p.m. and another at 6 p.m. Both classes cover the same materials. There is a small cost for the workshop.
For more information and to register for the class, call Polk County Extension Service at 828-894-8218.
