‘Willy Wonka’ Oompa Loompas

Published 9:54 am Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Hamming it up for the camera are three funky Oompa Loompas. These factory workers have the most important roles in the latest Tryon Little Theater / Tryon Youth Center’s Summer Production, “Willy Wonka”. Cool, modern, hip-hop dancing employees, they come in all shapes and sizes – and there will be many of them busily working away on stage. Mr. Wonka wouldn’t be as successful as he is without his Oompa Loompas! From left to right: 11-year-old Sydney Waldman (“I love the choreography.”); 11-year-old Raines Strader (“The ‘Rooms’ song is my favorite.”); and 10-year-old Annika Block (“I just love this modernized funkified version.”). All this excitement and creativity will be unveiled to the public on opening night, July 18, on Tryon Fine Arts Center’s stage. The show runs until July 21, and tickets will be available at the TLT Workshop 516 S. Trade St in Tryon, from July 8 (Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, 4 – 7 p.m.).
