Parsons to receive first annual Margaret L. Forbes distinguished scholar award

The Board of Directors for the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation, Inc., is pleased to announce the first recipient of the 2013 Margaret L. Forbes Distinguished Scholar Award.
This $12,000 renewable scholarship is awarded to a Polk County High School student who demonstrates outstanding leadership, high academic achievement, a strong dedication to community service and participation in school clubs and extracurricular activities.
The scholarship is awarded by the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation and is administered by the Polk County Community Foundation.
Caleb Parsons is an honor student at Polk County High. He serves his fellow students as Senior Class President, he is President of the Student Action for Global Awareness (SAGA), and he serves as National Honors Society President. Parsons is a member of the Green Team and he has played soccer for four years. He was selected to attend Governor’s School in the summer of 2012 and this summer will travel to Germany as part of the Rotary Club Exchange Program. Parsons’ hobbies include whitewater kayaking, hiking and reading. He plans to attend Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in the fall. Caleb lives with his parents, Rob Parsons and Ali Heston in Saluda.
